Airplane carpet weavers around the world choose yarns that have low contraction, dimensional stability, and are flame retardant. Asil Carpet, which has performed aircraft carpet applications for many years, has chosen yarns in line with these features and attained an important status in manufacturing woven aircraft carpets.

The varieties of yarns used in aircraft carpet weaving are as follows:

Flame-Retardant Yarn

Flame-retardant yarns retard flames continuously and permanently. This feature comes from the unique molecular structure of the filaments. If a textile material is exposed to fire, this feature prevents the spread of flames. Textile processes require extra care and attention to ensure that the feature of flame retardancy is continuous even after all operations. This document outlines the issues to be considered in the textile processes to be applied to the flame-retardant polyamide yarns.

Aramid Yarn

Due to the Extensive Thermal Expansion Coefficients, Aramid Fabric is useful for human atmospheres where high temperature emission is required. When aramid fibers were introduced in 1970, they were quickly tested and reinforced by glass fibers. Aramid fibers are now well known for their general use in manufacturing a wide variety of durable and heat-resistant materials and are also used in aircraft carpet weaving.

Low contraction yarn

Another variety of yarn used in the aircraft carpet weaving is the low contraction yarn. It is high-strength and impact resistant. It provides good flexibility, and has the features of heat resistance, good water absorption, and wear resistance.
